Florence May Burgess, 74, of Route 5, Huntsville, died Nov. 25, 1983, at her home. She was born June 20, 1909 at Beedville, Ark., the daughter of Henry Steele and Hattie Yingst. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Green Burgess on April 19, 1965 and by her husband, Claud Phillips on Nov. 20, 1979.
Survivors include three sons, Doyle G. Burgess of Upland, Calif., Jerry D. Burgess and Carroll A. Burgess, both of Huntsville; one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Mitchell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Maurice Steele of Huntsville and Ray Steele of Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Wanda Evans of Huntsville and Mrs. Norma Kendig of Wash.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, in the Chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Lonny Burks officiating. Burial was in the Whorton Creek Cemetery under direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Buster Austin, Virgil Inman, T.B. Lyman, Fred Burke, Albert Carlock and Maurice Steele.
