Burford, Lewis Hilton, 87, loving husband for 28 years to Linda Wilson Burford, died peacefully at his home, April 23, 2017. He was born February 7, 1930 in Owen County to the late Thomas C and Christian Watson Burford. He was a loving father and grandfather. His children include Bradley Burford, wife Kim; grandsons Michael, Brandon and Logan; Becky Burford Winchek, husband Bobby. He was a step-father to Michelle Lane, husband David; grandsons Isaac, Aaron and Eli; Steven Depee, grandchildren, Cara, Corbin, Corliss, Caiden, Isabella and Kale; and Kirk Zamudio, wife Lorraine and grandfather to Korbin. He is also survived by brothers Frank Burford, wife Emily of Owenton, KY and Eugene Burford of Versailles, KY and friend Anne. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Burford of Richmond, KY. He was beloved by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was the widower of the late Ama Burford. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a “True Blue” Wildcat Fan. He was an Army Veteran and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from IBM after 28 years and owned a lawn care business. He and Linda spent their winters in FL. He was a challenge to his Quail Hollow Sr. Community friends with his skills at shuffleboard and horseshoes. He was also an avid reader of Louis L’Amour books and loved watching old westerns on TV. He looked forward to his weekly Pinochle card games with Rocky and Cheryl Adams.
Funeral Information
A Celebration of his Life will be at 2 p.m. on May 20, at the Russell Cave Road Baptist Church, 3179 Russell Cave Road where he was a deacon for many years.
