June 22, 1930-Dec. 18, 2014 Cecil Lawrence Burdette, Sr., a native of Mercer, PA and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was a member of Guy T. Smith Lodge #883 F&AM; Mobile Scottish Rite Bodies; Abba Temple Shriners where he served as Treasurer; former transporter for the Shriners' Children's Hospital; volunteer driver for the American Red Cross and member of VFW Post 49.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Plummer Cecil Burdette and Mabel Carey Burdette; his wife, Faye Burdette and his brother, Harold Burdette.
He is survived by his children, his sisters, eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, December 22, 2014 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Burdette's name to Office of Development, Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
