The passing of Dr. B.H. Burd on Friday, June 9th, has taken another from that little band of surviving settlers who came to Nuckolls county (sic) back in the 70's. He was born in Peery (sic - Perry) county (sic), Pa., June 22, 1858, and came to Nuckolls county (sic) in 1877, where he served his community faithfully and to the best of his ability until the time of his last illness. He was united in marriage to Lillian Hamilton October 15, 1909. to this unin was born an only son, Ross H. The wife and mother preceded him in death.
The deceased is survived by the son, Ross H. Burd, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Burd, six nephews, three nieces and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held in the Christian church (sic) at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C.M. Foust. A quartet: Ollie Aikin, Maxine Aikin, Mrs. George Moss, C.M. Foust, furnished the music; and W.W. Hawley, H.A. Brubaker, W.W. McCutchan, H.H. Hite, Wilbur Portwood and W.A. Smith were the pallbearers.
Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Cecil Burd, Doris Burd and Earl Burd of Martin, So. Dak., Bert Burd and wife Norton, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. James Grandy, Hardy.
