He was the son of William Burbeck and Abigail Tuttle. He married Jane Milk on May 21, 1761 in Boston MA He was killed by lightning.

Captain Edward Burbeck raised a company of Artillery in Boston and joined Washington when he was encamped at Cambridge. Gridley's Regiment of Artellery (Mass) also in Knox's Regiment of Continental Artillery.
