Anna Elizabeth Bunyan was born on the family farm northwest of Ottawa, Kansas on March 21, 1898, the daughter of Jared Robert and Roccina Malitta (Brooks) Parker. She was the youngest of six children. Anna attended Chapel Hill Grade School, Ottawa High School, Baker and Washburn Universities, receiving her degree from Washburn in 1923.

Anna taught schools in the are for over twenty-five years, including the following rural grade schools; Baxter, Union Center, Chapel Hill, Minneola, Davy, Oakland and New Union. She also taught at the following high schools; Hoisington, Quenemo, Pomona and Winchester. Anna retired from teaching in 1969 at the age of 71. She enjoyed teaching, and continued to correspond with several of her former students via e-mail.

On June 10, 1933 she was married to Emmett Wesley Bunyan at Garnett, Kansas. They had two children, James Emmett and Peggy Anna. Her husband, Emmett, passed away on March 7, 1951.

Anna was a member of Richter Methodist Church in which she was extremely active. She also loved to play Canasta and Yahtzee with her family. She was active on her computer constantly keeping in touch with former students and many family members.

She lived in the Ottawa area until 1969, when she moved to California and later to Oregon. She currently lived with her daughter Peggy, in Corvallis, Oregon.

Anna is also survived by her daughter and son in-law, Peggy and Doyle Taylor or

Mrs. Bunyan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett; two brothers, Dr. Ernest Parker and John Hale Parker; three sisters, Sarah Parker, Angie Parker and Roccina Hoffman; a son, James Bunyan; and two nephews, Robert and Edward Parker.

Anna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends foreverů
