Jackie Lee Bunting
Age 62, of Braidwood, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at his home. Jackie was born October 19, 1937 in Sauenmim, IL to the late Arville "Bun" and Loretta (nee Garretson) Bunting. He was a graduate of the Reed Custom High School class of 1956 in Braidwood. Jack owned and operated Bunting Hardware in Braidwood for ten years. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in Joliet, Il following 33 years of employment. Jack had always been very active in community and civic organizations. He was a member of the Braidwood Police Department for eight years, serving as Chief of Police for three years. Jack was a former Mayor for the city of Braidwood and had also served the city as Finance Commissioner. He was a member of the Reed Custer School Board for twelve years, six of which he served as President. He had also served on the Wilco Board of Controls as Vice President for six years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (nee Stewart); four children, Elizabeth (Jay) Dixon of Braidwood, David (Debbie) Bunting of Braidwood, Matthew (Tammy) Bunting of Morris, IL, and Jacqueline (Jeff) Ryman on Braidwood; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, one brother, Ariville "Jim" (Carolin) Bunting of Wilmington, IL; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Kay Glabb.
Funeral services will be held at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood, Il. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, from 3-8pm. and Wednesday, September 6, from 10-11a.m. Memorials in his name to the Presbyterian Women of the First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood would be appreciated.
