Anna Lucile Stevens Bunch passed away peacefully Saturday January 15, 2011 in Little Rock.
She was born in Everton, Arkansas to Joshua Monroe and Nannie Reed Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie, her brothers Eugene, Glen and Elmore, her husband of 58 years Dr. William L. Bunch Jr. and by her daughter in law Paula Embree Bunch.
She is survived by one daughter Dr. Janice L. Bunch of Memphis, TN; two sons David L. Bunch of Little Rock, AR; and Donald W. Bunch of Fayetteville and by a number of cherished nieces and nephews.
She taught school in Carroll and Madison counties during the Depression and after graduation from Fayetteville Business College, she was a pioneering accountant setting up the books for the Fayetteville REA (Rural Electrification) Co-op. As a wife of a U.S. Public Health Service physician subject to transfer, her life's journey took her through seven southern states where she helped organize a school clinic, a Little League Baseball league and several Welcome Wagon groups while being a full time homemaker and mother. She was active in the University of Arkansas Medical Center Auxiliary and was always an advocate of women's education and work place rights. She also enjoyed playing music, sewing, gardening and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Since Lucile was a long and ardent supporter of children's homes, the family requests donations to children's homes of choice in lieu of flowers. Family would like to thank Good Shephard Nursing Home in Little Rock for the care shown our mother during her time there.
Graveside service was 2:00 PM Wednesday January 19, 2011 at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
