Agnes Eddins Bunch, 94, died March 18, 2013 at the White County Medical Center in Searcy. One of five children of Phillip and Florence (Fauerest) Eddins, she was born October 16, 1918 in Oak Prairie, a small community near Des Arc. She graduated with the honor of Salutatorian from Des Arc High School in 1935. On May 25, 1935 she married Harry Elwood Bunch, the principal of Oak Prairie School. They moved to Lee County where they farmed and in time their home was blessed with two children.
With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, she enrolled in the State Teachers College in Conway. Simultaneously she helped on the farm, raised her family and attended summer classes. Aided by correspondence she received a B.S.E. in 1961 and was immediately hired as a high school English teacher. With a great passion for books and learning she taught students for thirty years in the schools of Moro, Wheatley and Marianna. She was a past member of the Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association, Retired Teachers Association, Delta Historical Society and the Self Culture Club.
Blessed with a step-mother, Gertrude Bacon Eddins, who raised her as her own, she was ever grateful for her and an extended family, who gave their love and support through the years. After Harry's death in 1994, she moved to Brinkley where she enjoyed membership in the Methodist Church. In time she became part of the resident family at Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Florence Eddins, step-mother, Gertrude Eddins, husband, Harry Bunch, son, Larry Bunch, brothers, Willis, Forrest and Carroll Eddins, and sister, Ramona Jasper.
