Kenneth E. Bullock
Kenneth Edward Bullock was born July 22, 1924 in South Mississippi, where he was reared by Inez and Lenny Bullock. As a young man, he joined the army and served his country in WWII in Europe. After landing on the beaches of Normandy he went on to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. During his tenure in the army, he was awarded several medals for meritorious service. After the war he received his associate's degree from Jones County Junior College and his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law. In 1949, he married Felton H. Burnside; they lived in New Orleans while he finished his degree in business administration at Tulane, where he was recognized as one of the university's top students. The couple started their family in Jackson and later moved to Laurel. He began his law practice in Laurel where he was a partner in Gibbes, Graves, Mullins & Bullock. An award winning attorney, he was a member of the MS Bar Association, the MS Defense Lawyers Association, and served as president of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association. Mr. Bullock was very involved in his community and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lion's Club, as well as the Kiwanis Club where he served as president of the Laurel club. Mr. Bullock and his family were long time members of the First Baptist Church of Laurel, where he was chairman of the deacons for many years. Mr. Bullock also preached at local churches in the community in his role as an ordained lay pastor. He was also active as a volunteer with the Salvation Army and the March of Dimes. After he retired as an attorney, he taught paralegal studies at Jones County Community College for a number of years. For over thirty years, he was an avid jogger, and was considered by many as one of the "founding members" of the "Early Morning Jogging Club". Mr. Bullock and his wife Felton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999; they were very much in love; they reared four children and two grandchildren. Mr. Bullock was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by children, Linda C. Blair, Greg Bullock and Kenny Bullock and grandchildren, Raney Cronin and Kendall Bullock. It is with much love that we say goodbye to our dear, dear father and grandfather. Graveside services will be held today, September 2, 2010, at 11 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS with Rev. Ladell Blanton officiating.
