Mrs. Virginia Pearl Bullen Branscum, age 81, widow of Hobert, of Lexington, Ky. passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at the Richmond Place Health and Rehabilitation.
Virginia was the first daughter of the late Willie and Minerva Caudill Bullen, born on January 31, 1931 in Wildie, KY. She was a retired Registered Nurse who held several healthcare positions; She went to nursing school at Berea and graduated with honors, and then attended Peabody College and met Hobert Branscum, whom she married on August 2, 1958 at Danforth Chapel in Berea, KY. She was a long time member of Brodhead Baptist Church, Rockcastle County Diabetic Support Group, Brodhead Baptist Church WMU, and was recognized by Who's Who of the American Nursing Association. She was a dedicated professional nurse; Virginia implimented the Wayne Co. Home Health Agency; was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed family, friends and church. She had a special love for gardening, sewing and her support groups.
Virginia spent her entire life getting people well so they could follow God's plan for their lives. In 2009 Virginia moved to the Richmond Place where she stayed until her death. She had a great love for people and desired them to love one another.
Those left to mourn her passing include her daughters, Theresa Karen Garrett (David) of Lawrenceburg, KY. and Ginny Paulette Volkman (Thomas Scott) of Lumberton, NC. Two brothers-Steve Bullen of Mt. Vernon, KY and William K. Bullen (Betty) of Mt Vernon KY. Two sisters-Kathryn Bullen of Berea, Ky. and Jean Hays of Gray Hawk, KY. Two grandchildren-Andrew & Lauren Volkman. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie & Minerva Caudill Bullen, and her beloved husband of 46 years Hobert Branscum.
Visitation for Mrs. Virginia Branscum will be Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 5-8PM at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 22, 2012 at 9AM at the Brodhead Baptist Church with Bro. Luther Allen officiating, burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, Ky.
