Charles H.R. Bull, 70, an Acton, MA resident for the past 7 years, died peacefully Tues. Jan. 1, 2013 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Bachman) Bull, to whom he was married for 42 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Suzanne Rutstein, her husband, Charles, and their children, Jacob and Claire, all of Concord, MA; a brother John Bull; 2 nephews and a niece. Born in Southampton, NY, he was the son of the late Earl and Katherine (Warde) Bull and brother of the late Richard Bull. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Descendents of the Founders of Hartford, Mr. Bull grew up in Long Island, and resided in West Haven, CT for 22 years. He was employed by Southern New England Telephone until his retirement. Throughout his life he loved and collected music, and especially enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Following his retirement, this passion led him to move with his wife to PA where he graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in organ performance and sacred music. Mr. Bull greatly enjoyed his second career with a position at the first Reformed United Church of Christ in Sunbury, PA and as a guest organist at area churches in PA and later in MA. A longtime member of the Masons, he enjoyed gardening, golfing and travel. He loved his dogs and is fondly remembered for time spent with his family, teaching his grandson to fish, playing games with his granddaughter, Grandpa's annual egg hunt and his sweet tooth. Relatives and friends were invited to visiting hours on Mon. Jan. 7th from 5-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton, and the memorial service was held Tues.
