Betty Ann Bulfinch, 58, of Rochester, died early Monday morning, at the home she and her husband shared in the Lilac City since 2002, of natural causes and also following a recent history of cardiomyopathy.
Born at Frisbee Memorial Hospital August 15, 1954 to parents Morton and Brenda Leary of Dover, Betty graduated from Dover High School in 1972 and later worked for the Dover school department as the secretary of Horne Street School with principal James McShane, and later in the high school's after school suspension program.
Betty left her position as secretary, remembered for roller skating through the halls of HSS by colleagues, to welcome her and her husband Henry's daughter, Andrea, into the world and became a stay-at-home mother.
While raising their daughter, Betty ran a daycare from their long-time Maplewood Avenue home in Dover, where the children she cared for over a number of years were also bright highlights of each day and her lifetime as she watched them each grow.
Following the passing of her mother in 2006, Betty found strength, faith and camaraderie with the members of Faith Baptist Church in Somersworth led by Pastor Jim Vreeland, whom she also considered a dear friend. Attending Sunday mass and bible study each week, she became an active member of the congregation and looked forward to seeing members on a regular basis who became a second family to her.
She will be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors.
Betty is survived by her husband, Henry, who will remember on Wednesday, Oct. 17, their wedding anniversary, the vows he shared with Betty 31 years ago - officiated by Father Francis Kelso; her father, Morton Leary; daughter and Foster's reporter Andrea Bulfinch of Dover; cousin, Andrew Tyrer and his parents, Sheila and Roy of England; numerous cherished in-laws including Henry's mother, Mildred, with whom she was able to visit with recently; and her furry, four-legged grandchild, Pablo the dog.
