Graham McClung Buhrman, Sr. was the second son of Joseph Benson Buhrman and Sarah Elizabeth Lemon, born in Gala, Va. on June 8, 1883.
He married Ellen Norwood Price of Gala, Va. on Nov. 2, 1918.
In 1903, he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical Engineering. He taught at V.P.I. for two years. He worked for Rand Gold Mining Company, Johannesburg, South Africa. He operated a canery in Gala, Va. as well as several farms. He held the Presidency of Eagle Rock Bank, Inc., (which his father established in 1905) where he worked for several years.
Graham and Ellen had 5 sons: Graham McClung Buhrman, Jr., Joseph Benson Buhrman, III, Robert Parker Buhrman, Charles Nettleton Buhrman, and John Price Buhrman.
The Graham McClung Buhrman home is located on the right side of Route 220 North of Eagle Rock, and is known as "Buhrman Farms". The home, a large house on a hill overlooking the James River, it is now the home of Joseph B. Buhrman III.
Graham McClung Buhrman passed away on March 4, 1952 at the C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge, Va. following a stroke.
