Joseph D. "Joe" Buhr Sr., 35, of 1570 S. First Ave., Iowa City, died suddenly on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from a cerebral hemorrhage. His family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. A celebration of his life will follow at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Joseph Buhr Sr. Memorial Fund.

Joe was born Dec. 11, 1974, in Hazelcrest, Ill., the son of Larry and Opal Sioux (Durham) Buhr. He worked at International Automotive Components (IAC) in Iowa City. Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors, walks and fishing and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He was very giving of himself to family and friends.

Survivors include his fiancee, C.C. Sufficool of Iowa City; children, Zach Cremer and Ashley Wolfe, both of Bradley, Ill., Noel Buhr of Illinois, and Joseph Buhr Jr. of Iowa City; stepdaughters, Kelsie Mauricio and Shawna Johnson, both of Iowa City; his father, Larry (Diane) Buhr of Momence, Ill.; his mother, Opal Sioux Boyd (Jim) of Tipton; brother, Larry Buhr Jr. (Noelle) of Iowa City; a sister, Amanda Hubert (Ryan) of Campus, Ill.; his former wife, Nora LeAnne Buhr of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews.
