Glen Hubert Buehler, 92, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his home in La Habra, Calif.
Glen was born on June 1, 1921, in Wilson, Kan.
He was first and foremost a hard working family man and dedicated breadwinner. He was no stranger to hard work and held jobs in coal mines, working on siding crews on the railroad, and he spent over 20 years as a craftsman laying hardwood floors. He also obtained not only a real estate salesman license but a broker's license as well in California.
He knew first hand the difficulties that came with the Dust Bowl period in Kansas, living through the Great Depression as one of 10 siblings, snd life as a member of the armed services where he served during World War II as a Marine.
He was tough enough to handle life's challenges but still remained a gentle man who was always quick with a smile to give, not only to friends and family, but to strangers as well.
He was a member of the La Habra United Methodist Church for many years and after retirement attended Rmmanuel Episcopal Church in Fullerton, Calif., with his son.
He married Betty Lou Boyle on July 2, 1941,
He is survived by his daughter, LaVonne Jean Marks, of North Las Vegas, Nev.; and a son, Scott Granger Buehler; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale R. Buehler, Orval W. Buehler and Theodore F. Buehler; and a sister, Joyce (Buehler) Podlina.
A memorial service of is planned at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1129 Valencia Mesa Drive, Fullerton, Calif. 92833. His family has asked that rather than sending flowers, a donation be given in his honor to the March of Dimes.
