Joyce Connerty Buehler, 79, of Gurnee, IL, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 9, 1928 in Chicago, was a former 50 year resident of Northbrook, living at Heather Ridge for the past three years.
Joyce was a tireless 25-year volunteer for SHORE Community Services of Skokie, IL, serving both as an executive board member and as president and manager of The Second Time Around Resale Shop. She was a former Cook County Court Watcher, election judge and a member of the Warren Township Historical Society. Joyce was honored by the Pioneer Press Newspaper as an Outstanding Volunteer of the Year and was also a SHORE Volunteer of the Year.
Surviving are her husband, Art Buehler; two children, Keith (Nancy) Buehler and Meridith (Kevin) Murray, both of Libertyville; three grandchildren, Laura Murray and Stephen and Emily Buehler; and her dear friends, Charlie and Kobi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marie Connerty; and by her son, Eric in 1985.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with the Rev. Fr. John P. Finnegan officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Northbrook. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
