Arabelle FLATER, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth FLATER, was born May 1, 1864, and passed away at her home in Bloomfield, March 11, 1928, aged sixty-three years, ten months and ten days. Her father died when she was but four years of age and her mother died here in the BUCKNER home about eighteen years ago. She has surviving her two half-brothers, Stanley FLATER, of Bloomfield and A. A. FLATER, of Dardanelle, Arkansas, and one half-sister, Mrs. Ida GLOVER of Olathe, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Oliver M. BUCKNER, August 3, 1887, and to this union five children were born, namely: Ben, Ott, Tula and Rex, of Bloomfield and Guy, of Bloomington. The three grandchildren, Miles, Christine and Dickie BUCKNER, she loved as her own. Mrs. BUCKNER spent her life in Greene County, was born in the Furnace neighborhood and lived there for a number of years, after her marriage the family lived out near Bethel. In 1907 they moved to Bloomfield. In 1908 they moved into the home from which she was called by death. Herís was a life of love and sacrifice. She was a good neighbor, a true friend, loyal to her church, the Presbyterian Church in which congregation she united in 1886, but her outstanding virtue was her loved for her home, her companion and her children; no task was too hard for her, if in doing it she could add to their comfort. When the call came for her boys to go into the World War she responded in a way that only the mother with faith in God could respond. All four of her sons were in France when the Armistice was signed. She waited quietly, patiently and hopefully for their return. They all came back to the old home and no family in our country could be happier than this re-united one in their love for each other. The daughter was a constant companion to her mother, and this break is the first in the family circle, the interment of the mother occurring on the thirty-third birthday of her youngest child. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Jack MASTERS, officiating. Interment in Grand View Cemetery.
