Bruce Buckner, 73, of Etowah, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a member of Cambria Baptist Church. He retired in 1984 as a section foreman for CSX Railroad after 15 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ella Buckner; three sons, Michael Poteet, Quinton Poteet and Timothy Buckner; one brother, Tommy Buckner; and one sister, Linda Earls.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Chassie Lowe Buckner; two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda Bryson and Darlene and Scott Curley, all of Etowah; one son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Connie Buckner of Tellico Plains; seven grandchildren, Josh Buckner, Schonia Buckner, Kelly Buckner, Kevin Bryson, Cannon Ivens, Cassie Ivens and Bryan Allmon; seven great-grandchildren, Chase, Gaige, Blaise, Islan, Serenity, Ella and Jacob; one sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Eugene Locke of Etowah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Dunn and the Rev. Eddie Rowland officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Josh Buckner, Cannon Ivens, Chase Self, Bryan Allmon, Scott Curley and Kevin Bryson.

The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
