Artency "Tency" Collier Buckles BIG STONE GAP, Va. Artency "Tency" Collier Buckles, 84, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Holston Manor in Kingsport, Tenn.
She was formerly self-employed at Buckles Supermarket in Big Stone Gap and a member of the First Christian Church of Big Stone Gap where she was a member of the Ida Driver Circle.
Tency was preceded in death by her parents, J.A. and Mary Kaylor Collier; sisters, Dorothy Kleineick, Reba Smith, Adelaide Allman, Mamie Ruth Collier; brothers, Cecil Collier, Elmer Collier, Fred Collier and J.R. Collier. She is survived by two sons, William "Bill" Buckles Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Michael "Mike" Buckles, all of Big Stone Gap; one daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Shortt and son -in-law, Steve, of Kingsport; sisters, Madge Hopkins of Jonesborough, Tenn. and Sarah Jessee of Lewisville, N.C.. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lori Anne Sandt, Justin Shortt, Stephanie Blythe, Dustin Buckles, Chrissy Hurley and Bucky Buckles.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 5, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Greg Townsend, minister officiating.
Graveside services will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in East Stone Gap, Va.
Pallbearers who will serve are Michael Sandt, Mark Hurley, Shawn Blythe, Andrew Blythe, Blayne Blythe, Dustin Buckles. Honorary pallbearers are J.W. Hopkins, Gaylord Jessee and Donald Kleineick.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Holston Manor, Steadman Hill and Amedisys Hospice services for the wonderful care of Tency.
