Bessie was born in Missouri to John Buchanan and Jeanette "Nettie" Dudley Buchanan.

She married Harvey W. Barnes, Aug 27, 1911

Sarcoxie- Bessie B.Barnes, 93, died at 1:30 a.m today at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, following an illness of three years.
Born July 8, 1892, in Laurence County, she had resided in Laurence and Jasper counties her entire lifetime. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Sarcoxie. She was married to Harvey Barnes Aug. 27, 1911. He died Jan. 23, 1957.
Surviving are one son George Barnes, three daughters Jewell Colwell, Frances Strong, and Velma Jacobs. nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
Services will be 2p.m Monday at eh First Baptist Church Sarcoxie.
The Rev. Mike VonMoss will officiate, with burial in Sarcoxie Cemetery,
The family will be at the home of David Strong, 216 Second St., Sarcoxie on Sunday
Services are under direction of Housh Funeral Home Sarcoxie
