Funeral services for Jon R. BUCHANAN, 70, of Midway, killed July 28 while
at work on a WPA project between Bavington and Raccoon, were held in the
home last Friday night and were in charge of the Rev. Alfred HUBBARD, pastor
of the Center U. P. church, assisted by the Rev. E. L. RALSTON of
Murrysville. Burial was in Center cemetery.
A son of John and Elizabeth ACHESON BUCHANAN, Mr. BUCHANAN was born July 4,
1868, at Vineland, N. J. He was a graduate of Tarkio, Mo., college, and
also attended Pittsburgh-Xenia seminary. He was a former school teacher, a
member of the Center U. P. church of which he was an elder and a teacher in
the Adult Bible class. The BUCHANANs were residents of Midway for 27 years.
He was married November 12, 1903, to Emma Stratton CRAIG, who survives with
the following children: Esther and John, jr., at home, and Mrs. George
LOFFERT of Midway; a sister, Mrs. Lillie CRUMMY of Dravosburg, and a
brother, George of Monticello, Calif. A sister, Mrs. Belle BLATCHFORD of
Oklahoma State, died a month ago.
