Funeral services for a former Waterloo resident, Mrs. Pearl Bear, 85, who died of a heart attack Tuesday morning at the home of a daughter in Santa Anna, Calif., will occur at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Ackley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A rosary service will be held at the Oppold Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Thursday where friends may call from noon Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday.
She was born Sept. 19, 1883, in Paw Paw, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Amanda Thomas Bryant. She married Joseph H. Bear in Mason City who preceded her in death in 1922.
Surviving are five daughters, Miss Helen Bear of 112 1/2 Western Ave., Mrs. Thomas Mauck of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Walter Carson, Mrs. Thomas Taylor and Mrs. Lloyd Dunn, with whom she made her home, all of Santa Anna, Calif.; one son Hubert Bear of Thompson; one sister, Mrs. John Gagnon of Mason City; two brothers, Leon Bryant of Clear Lake and George Bryant of Lake Elsinore, Calif., 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
