Verna died Sunday, Oct. 5, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Davenport, the daughter of Foriest and Novella (Pettie) Bryant. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1960. She was united in marriage to Junes Beattie in Rock Island; he preceded in death in 1984.
Verna was one of the most distinguished seamstresses in the Quad-City area. She had worked for William Mundy Inc. in downtown Davenport for many years.
Survivors include her siblings, Judy Jackson, Lucille (Jack) Wells, Myrtle Graves, Novella Trice Greene, James (Sharon) Gambleton, Maricia Williams, Edward Gambleton; nieces and nephews, and great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Memorials may be made to Mount Sinai Church.
