Birth: Jan. 1, 1832
Death: Feb. 15, 1912

The passing of one of the oldest pioneers of Tippecanoe county occurred yesterday morning at 6 o’clock in the death of William S. Bryant at the family residence in Clark’s Hill. Mr. Bryant was 89 years old and his demise was due to the infirmities of age. His children, Mrs. Mollie Coyner, with whom he resided, Mrs. John E. Loveless, of Clark’s Hill and W. E. and John Bryant, of Lafayette, were at the bedside when the end came. Although he had been in failing health for the past two years, his condition was not regarded as serious until about two months ago, and since that time death was expected at any moment. For the past two weeks Mr. Bryant had been in a semi-conscious state, but was revived at times during which he talked to members of the family and friends. Shortly before his death Mr. Bryant called his family to his bedside and declared that death was only a mater of a few hours. Mr. Bryant was a descendant of Revolutionary stock, his grandfather, a Virginian, having served under General Washington, and with his parents, William and Elizabeth who died many years ago, he came in 1845, from Ross county, Ohio, to Indiana, locating on a farm in Lauramie township. The farm was purchased by Mr. Bryant’s father upon his arrival. It is located just one mile and a half south Clark’s Hill, and is known as the Bryant homestead. On August 4, 1847, Mr. Bryant was married to Willa Ann Wilson, who died October 5, 1903. The four named are the survivors of seven children born to this union.
