Andrew Jackson Bryant was the son of William Harrison Bryant and Samuel was the youngest child of WH Bryant’s second marriage. BTW Andrew Jackson Bryant and Una Virginia Mahone are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama. The following is information I received from my 2nd cousin: Andrew Jackson Bryant was known as Jack by the Bryants of Virginia and was referred to as A. J. when he moved to Birmingham, AL around 1912. According to people in the Madison Heights area, Jack carried the nickname of "the mayor of Madison Heights" due to the fact that he was always dressed in coat and tie. His family in Alabama also remembers always seeing him with his coat and tie no matter what the ocassion. He worked at the foundry in Lynchburg along with some of his half brothers. Around 1912, the steel mills in Birmingham (ACIPCO) were recruiting workers to relocate to Alabama. The offer sounded good...a house, rent free, and good pay. Alonza & Dock Bryant, half brothers of A. J. moved to Birmingham. According to Mrs. Lemuel Hiram Bryant Jr. A. J. moved his family after the tragic death of their daughter Nannie Steel Bryant in 1912. Nannie was four years old when her nightgown caught on fire, she was severely burned and died. Both A. J. and his wife had a difficult time dealing with this loss and at some point took their children and visited with his half brothers in Birmingham. The visit was extended and the children enrolled in school.

Jack may have built the two houses located at 401 and 403 Main Street, Madison Heights, VA (1912). Walter M. Bryant moved into the house on the corner in 1912 with his family. The victorian house was the home of B. H. Bryant. These houses were later purchased by B. H. Bryant after Jack moved. (Ellen Bryant Saunders) PT 7/26/2013
