Funeral services for Alva Dean Williams Bryant, 95 of Ruston, LA will be held 2:00PM Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Officiating will be Dr. Lynn Hawkins with burial following in Cook Cemetery in Ruston.
Mrs. Bryant was born Feb. 14, 1914 in Bienville Parish and died July 23, 2009, at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, LA. She was a lifelong resident of the Ruston area and a longtime member of Barnett Springs Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Brooks Harris Bryant, Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Brooks Harris Bryant Jr. and wife Peggy of Ruston, LA; James M. Bryant and wife Sue of Minden, LA. Daughter, Gloria Bryant Shelby of Alexandria, LA. Grandchildren, Pamela Jane Bryant Mittag of Livingston, TX; Sarah Bryant Chance of Onalaska, TX; Brooks T. Bryant of Aspen, CO; Tracy Wayne Shelby of Kansas City, MO; G. Bryant Shelby of Ball, LA. Twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brooks H. Bryant Jr., James M. Bryant, Brooks T. Bryant, Bryant Shelby, Tracy Shelby and Johnny Holloway.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Riser, Quinn Thornton, Bro. Dayton Doughty, Sammy Riser and Donnie Parkman.
