LAPORTE - Mrs. Ruby I. Brown, 91, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in her residence. She leaves behind her daughter, Bettye (John) Kolar; granddaughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Cochran; great-grandson, Jonah Cochran; sister-in-law, Edna Brown. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 12, 4 to 8 p.m. in Essling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery Saturday at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to LaPorte County Hospice Program, 901 S. Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, IN 46360.

RUBY I. BROWN, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the LaPorte, Ind., residence. Born April 30, 1917, in Wynnville, Alabama, Mrs. Brown was daughter of the late Joseph and Albie Dempsey Bryan and was widowed July 13, 1989, by Roscoe E. Brown, whom she had married at Tait's Gap, Blount County, Alabama on Dec. 19, 1936. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers Robert and Kyle Bryan.
Surviving are daughter Bettye (John) Kolar, granddaughter Jennifer (Kevin) Cochran, and great-grandson Jonah Cochran, all of LaPorte; and sister-in-law Edna Brown, Snead.
Evan Lash conducted graveside services Sept. 13 at Pine Lake Cemetery, Essling Funeral Home directing. Memorial contributions may be made to LaPorte County Hospice Program, 901 S. Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, Ind. 46360.
