James Henry Bryan, 77, son of the late W. L. Bryan, Boone's at Watauga Hospital Sunday afternoon from a sudden illness. Mr. Byran, who had occupied a room at the home of Mrs. Frank Estes of Boone, for several months, was found unconscious in his room by Mrs Estes Sunday morning. He was taken to the local hospital, where he expired at 5 o'clock, without having regained consciousness.

Funeral services were conducted at the chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Tuesday at 2:30 by Reverend S. B. Moss, local Methodist pastor and interment was in the Bryan cemetery in the Green Heights section.

A sister, Mrs. Cora Councill of Boone is the only survivor in the immediate family.

Mr. Bryan, who spent his youth in Boone, was for a number of years engaged in the lumber business in Bristol, Tennessee, following which he moved his residence to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, wher he was in the wholesale fur business for perhaps 25 years. During a large portion of this time his fur-trading expeditions carried him far into the Artic Circle. More recently he was engaged in the livestock business in Charlotte and worked in a mercantile establishment at Monore before returning to Boone nine months ago.
