Jean D. Brush , 75, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. Born March 12, 1930, in East Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Fannie J. (Hlavsa) Brush . Jean was a 1947 graduate of Hurst High School, a member of its class reunion committee and the alumni club. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed for 40 years by Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh, as a secretary and production coordinator. Jean led a full and active life and engaged in many pursuits after her retirement, including knitting, rug hooking, quilting, playing bridge and reading mystery novels. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Westinghouse Retirees Club, Pleasantettes Bowling League and served as its secretary, Laurel Mountain Rug Hookers, and former member of Loyalhanna Quilting Guild of Saltsburg. Jean was a great lover of animals (especially her four cats and her niece Heidi's two dogs) and was a supporter of the Animal Angels, Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by a brother, William A. Brush and wife, Janice, of Acme; a sister, Mildred M. Bankovich and husband, Edward J. Sr., of Mt. Pleasant RD1; two nephews, Edward J. Bankovich Jr. and wife, Linda, of Latrobe, and Gary W. Bankovich, of Mt. Pleasant; a niece, Dr. Heidi M. Brush , of Milwaukee, Wis.; and two great-nieces, Bethany and Brittany Bankovich, of Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin R. Brush , in 1946. Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul C. Freidhof officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
