Mary Dorethea Bruns Atkins, age 87, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 5, 1978, in Waverly, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Pauline Bathke Bruns, her brothers, Johann F.and Herman Henry Bruns.
And her husband William Cooper Atkins.
She is survived by two sons, William B. (Dorothy) Atkins of Gary, Robert L. Atkins of Hammond; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Anton Bruns of Waverly, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Rice of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Atkins was a resident of Hammond for 60 years; a member of the South Side Christian Church; a member of the Dorcas Rebekah Lodge, #263 for over 50 years.
Funeral services were held, Monday, January 9, 1978 at the Clarence J. Huber Funeral Home in Hammond, Rev. Calvin Phillips officating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Rebekah Lodge will hold services, Sunday.
