Mildred and her first husband, Carl Blankenship, were the owners and operators of the Blankenship Poultry business in Urbana from 1933 to 1957. She worked several years as a cook for the Northeastern School District. Mildred was an avid bowler until she was 84 years old.
She is survived by her husband Robert M Dorsey of Springfield, her daughters, Barbara (Richard) Runkle of St Paris, Virginia (Norman) Fell of DeGraff, Marilyn (Gerald) Clark of London and Karen (Phillip) Wagner of Huntsville; her sons, Roger (Julia) Blankenship, Melvin (Jeanne) Blankenship and Michael (Phyllis) Blankenship all of Springfield; her step-daughters, Nanette Blue of Urbana and Kendra (Steve) Heinlen of Dublin; her brother, Robert Brunotte of Urbana; her half sisters, Donna Conley of Urbana and Mary Newland of Dayton; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Carl W Blankenship in 1972, 2 grandsons, Lynn A Blankenship and Richard Runkle, sister, Frances Maxine Bussler and brother, Charles Clyde Brunotte.
She has left with those who knew her, loving memories, which will sweeten their whole lives, and none of them would have kept her on earth if she had to continue to suffer. All any of us can do is to submit to the inevitable and feel that God knows best.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, Feb 21, 2007 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, Feb 22, 2007 in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
