Grace Bruno Annie, 90, a longtime St. Albans resident, was joyfully ushered into the Lord's presence on October 13, 1008. She died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Reynoldsville and a graduate of Victory High School, Clarksburg.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jim Annie; brother, Frank Bruno; sisters, Dolly Weir, Millie Tumbry and Rose Moscar; and son-in-law, Donnie Crooks.
She is survived by her children, Theresa Annie Helms and husband, David, of Lawrenceville, GA, caregiver, Mary Virginia Annie of St. Albans, John J. Annie and wife, Gloria, of South Charleston and Charlotte Annie Crooks of St. Albans; and sisters, Irene Bordo of Stonewood and Janette Mele of New Eagle, PA. Grace was also blessed with her four grandchildren, Sharon K. Riffle of Bedford, Texas, Scottie K. Riffle of Derby, Vt., Denise Caggiano of Union, Ky., and Lisa Annie of South Charleston; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grace was a devout parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for more than 71 years, was a member of the Catholic Women's League, St. Francis Women's Club and the St. Albans Women's Club and a former Girl Scout leader. She was an election poll worker for many years, a homemaker and cherished friend. Known for her joyous nature, ready smile, welcoming embrace and love of animals, she lived her faith daily with a servant's heart and unwavering devotion. Grace endured her prolonged illness with reverential and unquestioning acceptance and was a beloved model to others of God's comforting grace throughout her lifetime.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 17, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans, and celebrated by Father Patrick M. McDonough. Interment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a rosary service being held at 7:30 pm.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1023 Sixth Ave., St. Albans, WV 25177.
