Georgiana R. Bard, age 59, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Born July 29, 1951 in Harrisburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Gaetano F. and Henrietta Buccieri Bruno.
Georgiana worked as an executive secretary for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for 17 years, from 1971 until 1987. She was a graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School's class of 1969 and the Harrisburg Area Community College's class of 1971. A member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, she served as President of the Council of Catholic Women for 12 years and taught 2nd grade religious education for 15 years. In addition to her church, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies.
Georgiana is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, James Bard, whom she married on July 30, 1977; her loving daughter, Erica Jayne Carson (husband Scott) of Chambersburg; her cherished grandchildren, Owen and Chase Carson; two siblings, John F. Bruno (wife Lori) of Hummelstown, PA and Lynann Falcone (husband Richard) of Steelton, PA; her mother in law, Jayne V. Bard; and five nieces and one nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1 pm, where Rev. Fr. James R. O'Brien and the very Rev. William Forrey will officiate. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Saturday, January 29 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church or to the charity of one's choice.
