He was born May 17, 1881 in Leopolis, the son of the late Leonard and Mary (Hoppe) Brunner.
On September 6, 1905 he was united in marriage to Anna B. Torbeck in Wittenberg. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1966.
Survivors include three sons, Elmer (Hazel), Harold and Edward Brunner; three daughters, Alice (Herbert) Strassburg, Hilda (Malcolm) Moss and Agnes (Arthur) Diestler; 30 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Alexander was preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Strassburg, two sisters, Marianna Laude and Martha Wendler and two brothers, Leo Brunner and Ernest Brunner.
Funeral services were held February 22, 1971 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Walter D. Kreger officiated. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg.
