Barbara graduated from St. Bridget's Elementary School in 1945 and Pacific High School in 1949. Barbara holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field of education plus 30 hours of advanced graduate credit in the same field. She was graduated from Washington University at St. Louis and from Webster University. Barbara taught three years at Catawissa Elementary School. She then joined the staff at Rockwood School District and taught there for 33 years. She also worked as program instructor for eight years at Southeast Missouri University in the graduate sciences program.
Harlan J. Bruns and Barbara were married October 9, 1954. Harlan was the love of her life. They were blessed in their marriage with a son, Keith Harlan Bruns, born October 10, 1959. Keith was the light and joy of her life.
Barbara was initiated into Chapter BU, PEO April 6, 1977. The love, friendship and service that she received and experienced with this group were a very important part of her life. Barbara served ten years on the Meramec Valley School Board and six years as Alderperson for the city of Pacific. Barbara loved education and took great pleasure in watching children learn, grown and expand their horizons with the same passion she loved the people of Pacific.

Mrs. Bruns was born Sept. 7, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of Edward L. Brundick and wife Mary, nee Kennedy.
Her paternal grandparents were Louis Brundick and Margaret Faber Brundick. Her maternal grandparents were James Kennedy and Mary Elizabeth Phelan Kennedy.
Mrs. Bruns graduated from St. Bridget's Elementary School in 1945 and Pacific High School in 1949.

Mrs. Bruns was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan J. Bruns, Pacific; one son, Keith H. Bruns and fiancée Peggy Sue Schaffer, Pacific; one brother, Dr. Edward Brundick and wife Holley, Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Margaret "Maggie" and husband Tom Koetting, Evansville, Ind.; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, April 20, at St. Bridget's Church, Pacific, with the Rev. John Keenoy and the Rev. Don Molitor officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
