Long Illness Proves Fatal

Mrs. Edith G. Bassler of 512 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, widow of John R. Bassler, former Blair County controller, died at 1.15 p.m. Saturday in the Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, after a lengthy illness.

She was born in New Enterprise, a daughter of Jacob and Delilah (Potter) Brumbaugh. Mr. Bassler died May 31, 1966.

Surviving are two children, John R. of Roaring Spring and Mrs. Phyllis Burd of Harrisburg, and three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Erma Hoffman and Miss Elda of Altoona, Mrs. Sue McGinnis of Miami, Fla., and Bruce of Hollidaysburg.

Mrs. Bassler was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and LCW, Roaring Spring, of the Roaring Spring OES and American Legion Auxiliary, a past noble grand of Winona Lodge, Rebekahs. Mrs. Bassler represented a periodical publisher locally.

Friends will be received in the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. today and after noon tomorrow in the church.

BASSLER--Services for Mrs. Edith G. Bassler of 512 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Roaring Spring, by the Rev. Lloyd T. Wilson. Interment in Alto-Reste Burial Park. Friends will be received in the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. today and after noon Tuesday in the church.
