Elizabeth H. Brumbaugh, 85, formerly of Fleetwood, PA,
entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Ephrata Manor Retirement Commu
She had been a resident at the Manor since 2008, and always introduced herself as "Betty."
Betty was born in Huntingdon, PA, in 1927 to James W. Hartman and Margaret E. Edwards.
A graduate of Huntingdon High School in 1945, Betty also graduated from Juniata College in 1949 with a BS degree in music.
She began her teaching career in one-room-schools throughout central PA before serving as a music teacher in the Williamsburg, PA, school district in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After moving to Fleetwood in 1970, she taught private piano lessons to hundreds of students and taught music for several years at the Cabrini Academy in Reading, PA.
A resident of Fleetwood from 1970-2008, Betty played piano for Sunday school and worship services at her home church, St. Paul's UCC, Fleetwood.
Prior to moving to Fleetwood with her family in 1970, Betty lived with her family in Akron, Ohio; Eugene, Oregon; and Morgantown, West Virginia.
Betty enjoyed traveling and was able to visit many states during her lifetime, but her favorite trip was to England during Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee.
Among her passions, Betty was an avid reader, especially of spy novels. She enjoyed science fiction and action adventure movies. But her greatest joys were spending time with her children and extended family, and teaching children and adults to play the piano.
Betty was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert B. Brumbaugh in 2001.
She is survived by two sons, a sister and one nephew.
Betty was also the sister-in-law to Paul Peoples, and an Aunt to Danny Peoples, both of whom preceded her into eternal rest.
Betty's desire was to be cremated, and interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Huntingdon, PA.
