MORRISTOWN - Almira Chase Broyles, 84, of Hamblen County, died Thursday at a hospital in Panama City, Fla.

Mrs. Broyles was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Greene County, and was a daughter of Mahlon Preston and Molly Elizabeth Rodgers Chase.

She had worked in the Hamblen County School System as a home economics teacher at Whitesburg High School, as principal at Witt Elementary, and as school lunch supervisor for the county.

Mrs. Broyles was a member of First Baptist Church in Morristown.

Her family noted, "She enjoyed the time she spent with her special 'granddog,' 'Mr. Bill.'"

She was the widow of Robert Kyle Broyles.

Survivors include her daughter: Elizabeth Gayle Broyles of Panama City; and her extended family, a "daughter": Elaine Brock; two "grandchildren and a grandson-in-law": Shalene and Kevin Grover and Nathan Trent; and a "great-grandson": Ethan Grover.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Chase.

A graveside service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens in Greeneville. The Rev. Danny Georges will officiate
