Nellie Broxson Bostwick joined her Lord and Savior on Feb. 25, 2008, after losing her battle with kidney cancer.
Nellie was born on June 3, 1927, in Pensacola, Fla., to John Calvin and Bessie Mae Broxson and attended school in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She and her husband lived in many places before retiring to Fort Walton Beach in 1980.
Nellie is survived by her devoted sister Mary Polous; and her loving daughters, Dr. Linda Sherrell (Dr. Dan Sherrell), Debbie Puntin and Nansie Workman (Gary Workman); seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Leonard C. Bostwick; as well as her three sisters, Jean Seifert, Vivian Gilliam and Lillian Cooper.
Her daughter's fondest memories of their mother was her support of all their school activities and her volunteer efforts as den mother, Brownie leader and library aide.
Nellie was actively involved in the upbringing of her grandchildren and took great pride in her four great-grandchildren. Her love for her family and her positive outlook on life was an inspiration to everyone she met. She touched the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted from McLaughlin Mortuary on Friday, Feb. 29, at noon with the Rev. John Bonner officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
