Doris Emry Browning, 87, died Nov. 19, 2009, in Tualatin, Ore. She was born in Hood River, Ore., on May 22, 1922.

Upon graduating from Hood River High School in 1940, Doris attended the University of Oregon where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

While she was at Oregon, she met her future husband, David W. Browning. The couple was married on Dec. 2, 1943, at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

After World War II, they settled in Hood River to work and raise a family, prior to moving to Portland in 1969. Dave preceded Doris in death in 2007.

Doris is survived by her son, David Browning, and his wife, Kathy; daughter Ann Browning; grandchildren Brian Browning, Amy Brandvold and Andrew Browning; and two great-granddaughters.
