Virginia Mae (Brown) Boyes, 92 of Greeley, passed away August 6, 2014 at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. She was born July 24, 1922 in Fleming, CO to Dean S. and Elinor (Kester) Brown.
She graduated from Fleming High School and Colorado State University (Colorado A&M) majoring in Home Economics.
Virginia taught in Wray, CO, where she met Stan Boyes. They were married June 9, 1946 and remained married for 54 years. They lived in Lamar, CO, Dodge City, KS, Wray, CO; and in 1956 moved to Greeley, CO.
Virginia taught Home Economics in the Greeley school district. She received her Masters in Home Economics from UNC and taught as a professor there in the Home Economics department. She then became a research laboratory technician at CSU, retiring in 1980. After retiring, Virginia and Stan loved to travel and led Rural Route Tours to many destinations. She also loved gardening and sewing.
Virginia was an active member of First United Methodist Church and participated in the Women’s Circles. She was a member of PEO Chapter EZ and of the Home Economists Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stan in 2000; her parents; and by two siblings.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church. Inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
