Funeral services were held at the Masonic Temple here Sunday for Harold A. Brown, lifelong resident of Cooperstown, who passed away Thursday noon of last week, August 6. Mr. Brown suffered a cerebral Hemorrhage at his home here Wednesday evening.
Mr. Brown was born in Cooperstown May 4, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Brown. He was married to Clara M. Francis at the homestead in Helena Township, Griggs County, on December 11, 1907.
He served several terms as president of the North Dakota Telephone Assn. and as a director of the group for many years. He was also a director of the First State Bank of Cooperstown and of the Moore and Liberty Telephone Co. at Enderlin, N.D. Mr. Brown was secretary of the Cooperstown Municipal Association and at one time was North Dakota chief game warden.
Mr. Brown was a member of Northern Light Masonic Lodge No. 45 of Cooperstown and was a past master of that group. Through the Scottish Rite he was a member of the El Zagel Shrine of Fargo.
Survivors include Mrs. Brown; a daughter, Mrs. Willis Nilson of Cooperstown, a son Gordon of Enderlin, and grandchildren, Harold and Ray Brown. Other close relatives include a sister, Mrs. Nellie Retzlaff of Helena, Mont.; a nephew, William Retzlaff of Great Falls, Mont. And tow nieces, Katherine Miller of Helena, Mont., and Rose Strull of Memphis, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Clarence Arneson, A. C. Loder, George Reid, Edwin Reiten and L. A. Sayer of Cooperstown and Fred G. Lewis of Binford.
Services were conducted by Rev. James Henderson, pastor of the Cooperstown Presbyterian Church and burial was in the Cooperstown Cemetery.
