HANNIBAL - Phillip A. Brown Jr., 61, of Columbia and formerly of Hannibal, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church in Hannibal. The Rev. Clifford Willis will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Wesley Foster. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
There will be no visitation.
The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Hannibal to Phillip Anderson Brown Sr. and John Elsie Moore Brown.
He was married to Virginia M. Allison on May 25, 1960, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Jeffrey Thomas Brown of Hamilton, Ill.; one sister, Rhonda Hall of Hannibal; and three sisters-in-law, who Mr. and Mrs. Brown raised, Deborah Abdul-Ali of Atlanta, Ga., Janice Lynn Harris of Columbia and Andrea Putman of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated J.T. Brown Transfer Inc. in Columbia for more than 20 years before retiring. He also served as a minister in the Columbia area. He was a Baptist by faith and a former member of Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church in Hannibal. He was the former pastor of Richland Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton. He enjoyed fishing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church .
Pallbearers will be Arch Allison III, Russell Nesbitt, Greg Abdul-Ali, Henry Erby, André Putman, and Xavier Hall Sr.
