Hope E. (Allen) Brown, 96, of Exeter, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Edward S. Brown. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Allen and Lottie M. (Greene) Allen.

Mrs. Brown worked as a Letter Carrier and Postmaster of Exeter Hill Post Office for 60 years until her retirement. She was a member and former treasurer of Liberty Baptist Church and served on the Exeter School Committee. She was honored as the Grand Marshall of the Exeter Heritage Parade.

She leaves her devoted children: Craig A. Brown of Coventry, Carolyn E. Brown Hoag and her husband Dr. Terry Hoag of Bradenton, FL, and Cathryn D. Stickney of North Kingstown. She was the mother of the late Eugene H. "Punk" Whitford, Jr. and Edward S. Brown, Jr. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Ten Rod Road, Exeter followed by a celebration of her life at Liberty Baptist Church, 279 Liberty Church Road, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Odyssey Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
