Former Bessie Grider Of DeWitt, Dies Fri. At Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Bessie Johnson Brown, 77, of 5616 West Sixty-first terrace, Countryside, in the greater Kansas City area, a native of DeWitt, died Friday at Providence hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital three weeks.
Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grider. She attended the schools at DeWitt when she was a child but the family left there about the turn of the century. She had since made her home in the region of Kansas City. She lived in Kansas City, Kansas, for a time after leaving DeWitt. She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Clydean Johanson, since April.
She was a member of Sherman chapter Order of the Eastern Star and the Miriam conclave True Kindred.
Also surviving are her husband Maurice E. Brown, 511 West Eleventh, Kansas City: another daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Gaffney, Mission, Kansas and five grandchildren.
She was the last surviving one of a family of several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were at Porter & Sons chapel, Kansas City at 2 p.m. Monday. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in the Greater Kansas City area.
