14 December 1938 - Mrs. Mary F. Brown

Friends here received word yesterday afternoon of the death of Mrs. Mary F. Brown of Minneapolis, mother of Mrs. Bertha Boynton Bean, which occurred about 1:15 p.m. yesterday. Mrs. Brown had been critically ill for several weeks and the end was expected at any time.

Mrs. Brown was the former Mary Francis Smiley and lived in Monmouth as a girl and during her two marriages. Her first husband was Jospeph A. Boynton who died many years ago. Their two daughters, Bertha (Mrs. F. A. Bean of Minneapolis) and Rose (Mrs. John M. Flourney of Columbus, Ga.) survive their mother.

Mrs. Boynton was married the second time to Henry S. Brown. They lived in Monmouth for a number of years and later moved to Long Beach, Calif., where they made their home until Mr. Brown's death. Since then Mrs. Brown had lived with her daughter in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the local Methodist church and of the Order of the Eastern Star, and had a wide circle of friends in this community.

Her body will be brought to Monmouth for burial, arriving here Thursday morning, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Bean. The service will be held at the Turnbull Funeral Home at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in charge of Dr. Guy Z. Moore, pastor of the First Methodist church. Interment will be made in Monmouth cemetery.

Mrs. Flourney is expected this evening and will be a guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Clyde McCoy.
