Lost aboard B-24H Liberator #42-51180 on a
trans-Atlantic flight leg between Goose Bay,
Newfoundland, Canada, and Nutt's Corner,
Northern Ireland.

The bomber was among sixty-two Army
aircraft on a ferrying flight to England.
The crew made their last radio call to give
their position as they left land point of
Labrador. They were not heard from again.
The aircraft had sufficient fuel for fourteen
hours of endurance. The intended flight time
was nine hours, forty-six minutes. They failed
to raise the radio station in Iceland.
The remaining sixty-one planes arrived at their
destinations. A search for the missing plane
was concluded at dusk on June 1, 1944.
