Curtis Lee "Charlie" Brown, 75, of Penhook, Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, February 14, 2009, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a retired tobacco farmer and school bus driver and loved fishing and hunting with his sons and grandson. He was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving as an usher for many of those years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Bertha Houston Brown; brothers, Chapman, Henry, Dennis, James, Cecil, Roscoe and Wayne Brown; sisters, Hazel Brown Fuller, and Helen Brown Fuller; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Belva Cundiff. He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Dixie Cundiff Brown; son, David Brown of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Jennifer Brown; his special beloved grandson, Hunter Brown; sister, Paige Brown Shoemaker; sistersinlaw, Dotsie Brown, Frances Brown, Peggy Brown and Alise Brown Fralin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Eldon Strike and Mary and Ron James; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, Kim, Karen, Kitty, Fran, Frances, Sandy, Morgan, Martha and Rick for making Charlie's final days with us possible. Funeral services will be conducted from Glade Hill Baptist Church 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount
