Phoenix – Edward J. Brown, 78, of Hannibal Center, died Saturday in Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton, after a long illness.
A native and life resident of Hannibal, he was the son of Smith J. and Eva Shepard Brown. He was a retired mechanic, formerly employed by the R. M. Burritt Chevrolet Co., Oswego. His wife, the former Pauline Johnson, died in April 1966.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Carter, two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Archie Gray, all of Hannibal Center, and a brother, Emir Brown, Oswego.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Allanson-Tappan-Glanville Funeral Home, 919 Main St., here the Rev. Orval McBride, pastor of Elbridge Church and former pastor of Hannibal Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
